Valerie Urbain
Chief Executive Officer - Euroclear group
Valerie Urbain is Chief Executive Officer of the Euroclear group since May 2024. She serves as a member of the Euroclear group Executive Committee and a member of the Euroclear SA/NV Board.
Having joined Euroclear in 1992, she was previously Chief Business Officer and CEO of Euroclear Bank, and led the three ESES CSDs (Belgium, France and the Netherlands) from 2009-2014.
Prior to this, she was head of the Human Resources division of the Euroclear group from 2005 until 2009. Earlier in her career, Mrs. Urbain held positions in Product Management, Commercial and Network Management.
Before joining Euroclear, Mrs. Urbain held Investment and Corporate Banking roles at Banco Hispano Americano and Continental Bank.
In addition to her executive role at Euroclear, Mrs. Urbain is also a non-executive member of the Board for La Poste Groupe.
Reflecting her passion for education, Mrs. Urbain serves on the Board of JA Europe and previously held the position of chair on the Solvay Business School’s International Board. She is also chair of the Euroclear Foundation, which was established in 2024 to make a positive social impact in local and global communities.
Mrs. Urbain holds a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Solvay Business School (Belgium). In 2024, Mrs. Urbain was awarded the Industry Person of the Year by Global Custodian at the annual Leaders in Custody Awards.
